YW Manual 1 Lesson 41
The ability to succeed is more than becoming the most wealthy, powerful person on the planet... that of course is what Lucifer would want us to believe. Success in this life is living our best life possible, whether our choices in life lead us to raise a family unto the Lord or to live our life to bless the lives of those around us, each choice gives us the ability to succeed and Return with Honor.

YW Manual 1 Lesson 35
I have found it interesting the timing of these lessons. At a time when we are choosing the next leaders of the free world, we need to remember the morals and virtues this countries foundation was built upon.
We need to learn to get along and allow each other to choose rather than pass laws that ban free choice, while remembering the commandments and the Laws of the Lord. Breaking those commandments lead to a life of self-doubt and self-worth.
Our Heavenly Father sent us to this earth to obtain bodies and gave us the gift of Free Agency.
As we learn in the Gospel, free agency has responsibilities. We are to choose wisely what we do and say and how we act so as to not offend God and embarrass ourselves, our families and our ancestors. So that ultimately, we can return to live with Him.
(Sorry about the rant, I am a little bugged by the proposed ban on sodas larger than 16 ounces in NYC).

YW Manual 1 Lesson 34
This lesson has so many wonderful ideas to help our young women navigate this world. A world that is full of negative words, images, thoughts. Our young women need a way to determine how to navigate through the negative influences to find the best influences in life.

YW Manual 1 Lesson 33
Our youth are constantly under attack by Satan's minions. The easiest way for him to attack them is through the media. Our children are much more linked in than I was at their age. Our children carry access to the internet in their pockets, they need our guidance to find their way home to their Father in Heaven. I hope and pray the spirit will be present to confirm the importance of making decisions now, to avoid heart ache in the future.

YW Manual 1 Lesson 30
I remember when I was a young woman, I absolutely dreaded service projects. But as I have grown older I have learned to find joy in serving. There are so many ways to serve others, a couple weeks ago during our sacrament meeting, the High Councilman spoke about the service that his family received from a woman in their ward.
This man had been called into a bishopric when his family was still young, 5 children under 5 and 4 of them still diapered. He described how a member of their ward, who had raised her family, would show up Sunday morning to help his young wife get the children ready for church and then help her during church. You could tell that this act of service was very precious to him and something he will be grateful to this sister for a long time.
Does service have to be something extravagant... no. I find the best kind of service is delivered unexpectedly. Opening a door for an elderly member who is fighting a walker or cane and the door. A smile can turn someones day around.
I have been fortunate enough to receive service from others that has touched me deeply. I am so grateful for strangers on a roadside one hot Sunday afternoon who helped my young daughter and myself.
I hope to be able to share the benefits of service to my class with this lesson, and pray the same for you.

YW Manual 1 Lesson 29
The day of our Savior's return will be an amazing day. My hope is to teach the girls how to prepare and ensure they have enough oil for their lamp.
If you like this cartoon image of the Savior you can find it in sassy girls sassy kit.

YW Manual 1 Lesson 28
I can think of no better way to resist sin than to Arm ourselves with the Armor of God, which is the Word of God. As I have grown older, Satan has new tools to tempt our children. Each smart phone with access to the Internet carries around a tempting portal to one of Satans biggest tools to destroy lives and families. We need to be vigilant in keeping close to the spirit and arming ourselves with the tools that will prevent Satan from tempting us away from the Straight and Narrow path back to our Heavenly Father.

YW Manual 1 Lesson 26
Growing up there were times when I felt like Fast and Testimony meeting was an opportunity for members to share information about their recent trips, or recent hospitalizations, or an update on their health. I think I was misled about what a testimony is.
I know my testimony has grown slowly throughout my lifetime, there have been experiences in my life that have strengthen my faith and thus my testimony. I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ and the Atonement, without which I would be unable to return to live with my Heavenly Father and my family.
My hope for each of you today is that you will find ways to strengthen and share your testimony.
May God bless you and your family this week.

YW Manual 1 Lesson 23
The theme of the most recent General Conference seemed to be forgiveness. The message from our Heavenly Father is simple forgive as I have forgiven you. For some of us, our mortal experience may require us to forgive many times and as long as we continue to forgive we are following His counsel. When we allow grudges to linger and fail to extend forgiveness to those who have trespassed against us we have allowed Satan to win.
After all, none of us will experience what our Savior did from his friends, he was sold for several pieces of silver, his closest Apostle denied knowledge of Jesus, and still He forgave both of them. I know I need my Savior's forgiveness every single day, and on that note I should forgive those who have trespassed against me. Let us always follow his example.

YW Manual 1 Lesson 22
Repentance is important to our eternal progression. I know each day I wake up and no matter how hard I try, I commit some sort of sin before I return to bed. Repentance is my key to living a good life, and my journey to return to my Heavenly Father.

YW manual 1 Lesson 21
We never know who is watching or when our actions, our speech, our dress or our temperament will be an example for good or not so good. Have you ever examined your actions of the previous week and realized that you could have been a better example for righteousness. This quote is from the lesson manual and was shared by Ardeth Kapp. She is so correct our world is darkening and sometimes it takes a lot of courage to do what is right especially when we are stressed. I know I need to learn to control my temperament to be a better example.
Each week I am so grateful for the opportunity to partake of the sacrament and renew my covenants with my Heavenly Father so I can have a clean slate and a chance to better next week.
Blessings,
Kimberly

YW Manual 1 Lesson 19
I love hearing stories about my ancestors, stories that would have been lost if someone had not kept records. One of my ancestors paid for several saints to come to the new world from South Africa. From some of the records we learn that on their first attempt to come to America, the boat started taking on water and the boat had to return for repairs. When they finally made it to Utah this ancestor was asked to help settle the Bear Lake area, he was then known as the town doctor of the area. I have always wondered what it is about Bear Lake that I love so much, more than the beauty of the area, perhaps it is the links to my forefathers and mothers.
By keeping records, our great, great, great grandchildren will have the opportunity to learn about us, our thoughts, our motives and our dreams.
Here is to some happy record keeping.

YW Manual 1 Lesson 18
YW Manual 1 Lesson 17
I feel so blessed to belong to a church that has the covenants and saving ordinances of the Lord's religion on this earth. Our challenge is to teach our Heavenly Father's daughters to understand the importance of upholding our end of the covenant, and continuing to live worthily of the ordinances of the priesthood of God. If you like these elements, visit summer driggs, they all come from her Comforts of Home kit. Kimberly

YW Manual 1 Lesson 16
Our young women have the ability to influence their fathers, brothers and young men the attend church with. Teaching them how to use this influence to help their brothers stay close to their Heavenly Father and prepare to serve the Lord for 2 years and remain close to the spiritual aspects of this life.

YW Manual 1 Lesson 15
The restoration of the priesthood to the earth, made possible so many ordinances and blessing to God's children. But with those blessing comes responsiblity, which is the focus of this lesson.
My hope is to convey to the young women the important oaths and covenants our fathers, brothers, husbands and sons take upon themselves to perform our Fathers work in this day.

YW Manual 1 Lesson 13
YW Manual 1 Lesson 14
Many of our young women today, don't always have a Father living in her home. While we must be sensative to their situations, our youth need to learn the intentions of our Heavenly Father. Our Heavenly Father set the model of a family, a Father and a Mother. This life is difficult and that model does not always endure the challenges of this life, they are still important.
My hope is that each of our youth will learn to love their families and respect their fathers, especially their Heavenly Father.

Easter Sunday
I am so grateful for what my Savior voluntarily did for me, I am sure each of you feel the same. This time of year we are each given the special gift of time. Time to remember what He did for us individually.
I can not thank Him enough for releasing me from the bonds of death, and providing the opportunity to live with Him and our Father again.
Happy Easter,
Kimberly
