Christmas Lesson 2011
Christmas was my favorite time of year while growing up. My family had some pretty amazing traditions, most of which involved my grandma and her sister and both their families. The Christmas season started off with the annual candy making day and was topped off with breakfast with all my cousins. My aunt Helen passed away this past year and so this will be our first Christmas season without her amazing spirit here with us. Some of my most vivid childhood memories involve my aunt Helen, she had the ability to host a party, I am pretty sure she was able to fit 50 people in her basement for Christmas breakfast. I have no idea how we all fit in the basement, but I loved being there with my Family.
I am so grateful for the Greatest Gift that our Savior brought us. The numerous gifts he gave to each of us started with his birth. This time of year is so busy, filled with parties and gift wrapping, my hope for each of us this year is that we can each take the time to think of a gift we could give back to Christ. Do we have a weakness that we can turn into a strength to bring us closer to Him.
Merry Christmas to all of you,
Kimberly

Manual 3 Lesson 44
A few years ago I attended a management training that covered helping employees through change. The focus was teaching them how to prepare for the change and anticipate their new work environment. During the training we were introduced to the Chinese word for Crisis. The translation the word is actually Danger Opportunity.
I hope to bring that idea into the class, that by planning for changes or tests in school, or other deadlines they may come across in their life. Crisis comes from procrastination- I unfortunately am the Queen of Procrastination and speak from experience. When I procrastinate I find my self in a panic to accomplish the task and end up loosing more than sleep to meet a deadline. I have always been like that, almost unable to compile two thoughts together without the pressure.
The Doctrine and Covenants 109:8 scripture outlines how we can avoid the crisis moment, if we follow each of those items, we will be prepared for each new Dangerous Opportunity life throws our way.

A night of excellence, for your use
Our Night of excellence is next week, and so I needed to change a couple things from my previous example.
I am also posting a generic invite, if you would like to print it off and fill in the information or down load the handout and insert your information it, please feel free.
Have a great day, Kimberly
**Update: I wanted to throw a shout out to Andi at
Sassygirlstudio.blogspot.com. She made these amazing young women that I used in this post. And she deserves a lot of credit. Do her a favor and check out all her amazing tools. Thanks Andi for noticing this wee little blog. I don't always remember where I purchse these tools from when compiling the handouts, but I am most grateful when the creators themselves notice. Thanks for stopping by.

YW Manual 3 Lesson 41
I have been reading the Great and Terrible series by Chris Stewart, if you have not read them I highly suggest you do.
As I was reading through lesson 41, I remembered a phrase from either book one or book two, one of Satan's minions is talking to one of Christ's followers, trying to bring him to the dark side. Balam said, " You can't trust him, he really isn't going to follow through on what he says he will do." He was implying that Christ was not going to "pay" for our sins.
I was reminded how much faith we all had to have to follow The Plan of Happiness. I found myself pondering this thought for a few days and felt that I needed to add that thought to this handout.
I will never be able to return the payment he made for my sins, I can only hope that I can always be grateful and appreciative of his sacrifice.
As always,
Kimberly

YW Manual 3 Lesson 42
I have learned through my life that the ability to adapt to change is so important. While change can be difficult, think about life this way: the shifting winds as they changed over time carved the Grand Canyon, Delicate Arch. They also shift the sands in Arabia. The security of knowing our Savior can bring peace to our hearts.
The one wish I have is that I could have learned this knowledge earlier in my life could have saved me some grief.
That is my hope with this lesson is to impress upon their minds the importance of the ability to adapt to change.
Love to all,

Manual 3 Lesson 39
A couple of years ago I read the Help by Katherine Stockett, and yesterday I finally went to see the movie. I was reminded of Aibileen and how much she loved the children she raised but were not her own. Each morning she recited with each child the following saying. "You is Kind, You is Smart, You is Important!!". This small reminder was like a shield against the unkind words each one of us is faced with each day.
Our Heavenly Father reminds each of us of our importance to him each day. Each of us is his child and each of us is of infinite worth- a worth beyond measure- with a Divine Nature. We each have our own special mission, we are to prepare to complete that mission and Return with Honor.
The world today can be so tough on the self-esteem of our young women. Staying strong and not falling victim to the unkind words of others and self defeating whisperings of Satan's minions can be challenging.
My goal with this lesson is to hit the reset button for our girls and remind them of their Divine Nature and Individual Worth to their Heavenly Father.

A Night of Excellence
So my friend had this great idea for the theme of her young women's night of excellence. You know each of us carries a purse and guard it because the contents are very personal. Well, you might have guess personal progress is "pursenal" and is decorating with purses and various purse related ideas.
She asked me to come up with an invitation to go with her theme, well luckily Whimpy Chompers designs happened to create a kit called Her first Purse. How timely and amazing it was. So the girls and purses are from that kit.
This was so fun to create, I am sure they will have a great evening.

YW Manual 3 Lesson 38
There are so many factors that contribute to a healthy lifestyle. I was reading over Section 89 and noticed something I had just skimmed over previously.
Verses 2 and 3 of Section 89:
2. To be a greeting, not by commandment or constraint, but by revelation and the word of wisdom, showing forth the order and will of God in the Temporal salvation of all saints in the last day.
3. Given for a principle with promise adapted to the capacity of the weak and the weakest of all saints, who are or can be called saints.
Verse 4 is so powerful: in consequence of evils and designs which do and will exist in the hearts of conspiring men in the last days, have warned you and forewarn you, by giving unto you this word of wisdom.
You know hindsight is 20/20, I can not doubt that our Father in Heaven knows all. After hearing that tobacco CEO's, CFO's and others conspired to attract people to their product and keep them returning for more.
I can not help but wonder if my addiction to cola's, while not specifically mentioned in the WoW, is really included. Especially after reading verse 3, "adapted to the capacity of the weak and the weakest of all saints, who are or can be called saints" I am so weak when it comes to Cola, making me a slave to the caffeine and sugar... Something I should probably ponder and pray about.
Anyway enough about me and my personal revelation this week.
A strong temporal and spiritual being is what the Lord needs from his youth in these last days. This week I have made two handouts this week, one focusing on the spiritual attributes and one on the temporal attributes that our youth need to make it through some of the most difficult times of their life.

Help maintain the reverence
So I made these posters for the door, hopefully they will serve as reminder.
I am working on a few others but feel free to use them.
I would love your feedback to know if they worked for you.

Oct 15 update: The signs worked great. We actually made it through the closing prayer without the door opening. YEAH!!!

Young Women Manual 3 Lesson 36
This week I ran across a saying that I wanted to use for this handout,
"don't be the kind of woman that needs a man, instead be the kind of woman that a man needs."
I wanted to try to send the girls home with a more positive message. I read all the conference talks and Ensign articles listed on the church website to go along with this lesson, and found one from the Sept 2002 Ensign entitled "Choosing and Being the Right Spouse" written by Thomas B Holman.
I loved this article, and plan on incorporating many of the ideas written there in my lesson tomorrow.

Manual 3 Lesson 35
I felt like the importance of this lesson was to enjoy the dating years, with the ultimate reward is to find the one who will travel through a lifetime of ups and downs and ultimately eternity. Thanks again for all your encouragement. Kim
I found some gummy frogs and attached this handout to them for the girls. The girls loved them.

Manual 3 Lesson 34
I hope there are still some of you who can use this handout. It is a little late for my lesson tomorrow, but I still needed to create something.
I need to say thanks for all the wonderful comments from all my followers. Welcome and thanks, you are all too kind.
Thanks for your kind words Shauna, I will have something for you by next Wednesday night for Lesson 37.
